Abbaye-cathédrale de Saint-Papoul

In the heart of the Lauragais region, the Benedictine abbey of Saint-Papoul was founded in the 8th century. A place of pilgrimage in the 11th century, it continued to prosper until 1317, when it was erected as a cathedral. 34 bishops succeeded one another, making Saint-Papoul an important center of power, actively participating in the creation of the Canal du Midi. During the revolution, the bishopric was suppressed. The abbey became a municipal site and was classified as a Historic Monument in 1840.

During your visit you will discover : The chevet of the church, a jewel of Romanesque art, decorated with chapitals sculpted by the workshop of the Master of Cabestany, a Gothic cloister of the 14th century and its chapter house, a choir with rich baroque furnishings testifying to the pomp of its bishops.

Thanks to its history, the Château was one of the determining elements of the social and economic life of the canton. Moreover, many famous people have walked on the estate (Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, Thérèse Humbert... among others).

For 5 generations, the Saint-Exupéry family has passed on the property and the vineyard of Château Pech-Celeyran. Yvonnick Debray comes from an atypical background. He was born in Brittany and trained as an accountant.

Château-Musée de Nemours

Since 1903, the museum has been housed in a listed castle. A major medieval building, it was built in the second half of the 12th century as a residence and stronghold of the lords of Nemours, who became dukes in the 15th century. The building was then remodeled in the 17th and 18th centuries. In the current state of knowledge, the castle is considered the oldest city castle in Ile-de-France. 

The museum holds more than 20,000 works of art, mainly from the second half of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. 

The museum is spread over two floors of the former dungeon, for a total area of 350m². Since 2010, two annual temporary exhibitions are programmed on Fine Arts themes, essentially revolving around the museum's collections and which may include external loans.
