Consul’s key features
The central saloon with steering position features a radio/CD player and MP3/USB connectivity. Large windows bathe the space in natural light. The kitchen/galley is equipped with an electric refrigerator, microwave, stove, and sink And there’s loads of storage!
- The forward cabin features a V-berth (two single beds) that can combine to make one double bed
- There’s an adjacent bathroom with shower, toilet, and sink. Cabin fans provide comfort in warm weather
- The aft (rear) stateroom is quite large and is equipped with a double bed, and an en-suite toilet, sink, and shower
The spacious aft (rear) sundeck includes a second steering position and ample seating for relaxing. The onboard electrical system runs on 12-volt DC power. There’s also 220-volt shore power. The Consul is equipped with an efficient and reliable diesel engine

A budget boat, couldn’t always moor up as the boat bottomed out. Repairs to the boat were poor, but understand they only have a few hours before the boats out again

We knew this was a budget boat and there was clear evidence on the exterior of previous encounters with paint from other boats etc which we felt could have been cleaned up Nevertheless we were all comfortable on board and would in no way suggest that boats like this should be withdrawn.

For us it was a great holiday, allowing us the freedom to move as we wished. We went from Portumna to Carrick and also took in Lough Key – the one way nature of the trip allowing us to cover a large proportion of the beautiful waterway

The Consul was a fine boat. Maybe a bit tight for 4 people but well equipped, everything worked and it was easy to handle for a relatively inexperienced captain!
