After visiting Rheinsberg and its stunning castle, this 7 night suggested itinerary takes you into the heart of the Mecklenberg lake district, giving you the opportunity to find a few secluded spots to anchor in and enjoy some time swimming. You’ll cruise across Lake Müritz, exploring its lakeside towns, tasting freshly caught fish and great local cuisine as you go and you’ll travel as far as the popular summer resort of Malchow, where you’ll soak up the lively summer vibe and explore a variety of fascinating historical sights.

After you have arrived and checked-in, we’ll show you to your boat as quickly as possible. Spend time settling in, freshen up and await your pre-departure briefing which will be given by one of our base technicians. They will familiarise you with the boat’s domestic systems and give you a hands-on demonstration of the boat controls and how to operate it. They will make sure you are comfortable and confident controlling the boat, as well as navigating the waterway, before you set off.

From the lake, you will see the imposing Rheinsberg Castle by the water, surrounded by lush green forests – be sure to get some good photographs before you moor. This Rococo-style building was once home to the Prussian King, Frederick the Great. You can visit the castle and the museum and take a stroll in its beautifully designed gardens – you’ll be able to get a taste of why King Frederick described his years at Rheinsberg as the ‘happiest of his life’. Afterwards, head to the small town center, with its pretty painted houses and lovely shops. If you didn’t get the opportunity yesterday, there are several big supermarket here to stock up with supplies.

Rechlin is the largest municipality in the Müritz-Röbel region and lies at the southernmost entrance to the Müritz National Park. The National Park is abundant with water and bird life to discover and is best reached and explored by bike (if you have added bike rental to your booking). 

Alternatively, you may wish to visit the Aviation Technical Museum, just an 10 minute cycle to the north of central Rechlin… in ‘Rechlin Nord’. This used to be the location of the Luftwaffe’s main testing ground for new aircraft designs in Nazi Germany. With an additional 3 nights, you will have time to head north-east of Marina Wolfsbruch to Neustrelitz, where you can stroll around the beautiful palace gardens. While the original palace has gone, the gardens are still home to a marvelous hotchpotch of sculptures, fountains and buildings in a variety of architectural styles, from Neo-Classic to Neo-Gothic. What’s more, if you feel the urge for some ‘big-city hustle-bustle’, you could take a day trip to Berlin from here. By train, you can be in the capital in an hour.
