Boats without license to enjoy as a family or with friends

During a boating vacation in the Camargue, discover the dynamic seaside town of Palavas-les-Flots.

Explore Camargue from a unique perspective on the upper deck of one of our  private cruisers, departing from Saint-Gilles or Port Cassafières. During your boating vacation, we highly recommend you stop and explore Palavas-les-Flots – a former fishing village that has become a popular seaside resort. The town has retained its typical village atmosphere, thanks to the canals and the fishing boats that bring back fresh fish. There’s plenty of great restaurants where you’ll be able to enjoy the catch of the day, including L’Escale or L’Artimon.

Don’t miss seeing the pink flamingos on the lakes near the town: they’re one of the most famous sights in Camargue! Grab your binoculars and head to the Étang du Grec and the Étang du Prévost.

What is there to see in Palavas-les-Flots?

Le Phare de la Méditerranée

Walking to the top of the 42m-tall lighthouse may seem a tall order, but the 360° view from the top is worth it.  The revolving restaurant at the top is unique in France and boasts refined dishes using fresh and local produce.

Even if you choose not to go to the restaurant, you can still head up to the platform and admire views of the lakes and the sea, reaching as far as Montpellier.

Luna Park

Children will have the best time at the Luna Park funfair! With attractions like rollercoasters, archery, bumper cars and the obligatory candy floss stand, there’s no doubt that the whole family will have a great time!

Beach front

During the day, why not head to the beach front to enjoy the scenery and a little sunbathing? On both the left and right banks, the beaches are well maintained and appointed to welcome families.

Note that dogs are unfortunately not allowed on the beaches during peak season.

Port Cassafieres St Gilles 7 Night Itinerary

We’ve packed a lot into this 7 night suggested itinerary which serves you the very best the Camargue has to offer… cruising across the open waters of the Etang de Thau, fun on the beach, strolling around the ancient walled city of Aigues-Mortes, a tour of the salt-flats, an evening on a cattle ranch and bird-spotting in the marshes. Phew! Thankfully it’s broken up by a lot of relaxing, and virtually lock-free, cruising!

Our bases in the Camargue

We have two bases in the Camargue: Port Cassafières and Saint-Gilles, allowing you to start your trip from the western or eastern parts of the region. Port Cassafières is ideal for families, thanks to its proximity to the beach in Portiragnes and to the Étang de Thau. Saint-Gilles is the perfect starting point to discover the heart of the Camargue: the medieval town of Aigues-Mortes, the many lakes, along with the wild horses and pink flamingos that are so typical of the area.

Angela Allibone

…The Camargue is spellbinding. The scenery, the wildlife, the sunsets…my photos look professional, but that wasn’t my skill, it was the beauty of the landscape. Wild white horses, kingfishers, egrets, herons, cormorants… Fish jumping out of the water to catch insects. Incredible!

John Marsh

Great warm welcome. Could not have done more to help us. Very helpful staff. Nice town [St. Gilles] with all that you need
